Le ferie di Licu

by Vittorio Moroni

Licu, 27 years old, was born in Bangladesh. He is muslim and for a few years he has lived in Rome in a flat shared with other eight people. He has just gotten his residency permit and he works twelve hours a day. In the morning he works as a warehouse worker in a textile workshop and in the evening as a cashier in a food shop. With his Elvis hairstyle, his designer shirts and being fan of Roma football team, Licu seems to be well integrated. His mom sends him a picture of an eighteen year old girl, her name is Fancy and she is the wife his family has chosen for him. Licu obtains only four weeks of unpaid holidays to go to Bangladesh and organize the marriage with a person he doesn't know. At his arrival, the agreements between the two families seem to get complicated and Bangladesh, hit by the most disastrous flood of the last fifty years, is submerged.
