Su tutte le vette è pace

by Yervant Gianikian, Angela Ricci Lucchi

The incipit of Goethe's Wanders Nachtlied names this film which is the natural sequel of Prisoners of war. Both the movies are made up of archive footages which, thanks to a meticulous two-years-long research, have been found, studied, disassembled and edited. The images speak for themselves, beautiful, yet horrible, anti-rethorical, and specular. They tell us about the landscape, the man soldier, his objects, his weapons and the animals are taken back to their natural dimension, made of strain, efforts, sufferings, a cruel and miserable heroism.+
