Pickpocket

by Robert Bresson

Michel, an intellectual bourgeois, starts pickpocketing as a provocation against humanity and to feel above the law and the moral code. Stealing gives him almost an erotic pleasure and all his attempts to stop are useless. Only the love for girl will help him. The movie is full of references to Crime and Punishment and it is Bresson's fifth successful feature film.
