In the last days of 1999, Abderrahmane Sissako, a director who comes from Mauritania but live in France, comes back to Sokolo, a small village in Mali, to visit his father. In Sokolo, Sissako changes his clothes, takes a bike and starts biking around. He will run into a girl, Nana.
