Journal d’un curé de campagne

by Robert Bresson

A young priest in poor health is sent to the parish of Ambricourt, a small provincial village. The priest keeps a daily journal in which he records "the humble and meaningless secrets of a life without misteries". Not welcome by his parishioners because of his ascetic lifestyle and criticized by his colleagues who think that he neglets the real problems of his community, the priest clams up in a deep loneliness.
