The incipit of Goethe's Wanders Nachtlied names this film which is the natural sequel of Prisoners of war.
Both the movies are made up of archive footages which, thanks to a meticulous two-years-long research, have been found, studied, disassembled and edited. The images speak for themselves, beautiful, yet horrible, anti-rethorical, and specular. They tell us about the landscape, the man soldier, his objects, his weapons and the animals are taken back to their natural dimension, made of strain, efforts, sufferings, a cruel and miserable heroism.+
