Lola

by Jacques Demy

Lola sings in a cabaret. She has a son and is waiting for Michel, her son's father, to come back. After seven years, Michel comes back rich, and leaves again with Lola and the kid. The stories of these lonely souls looking for love are told with elegance and tenderness. "Lola" is the debut film directed by Jacques Demy (a tribute to director Max Ophuls) and, thanks to its originality and expressive freedom, is considered a milestone of Nouvelle Vague, an extraordinary period of the French film history.
