In motu gratia

by Andrea Zanoli

In a city in Nothern Italy, a group of friends organizes the first Graziella bicycle World Olympics (Grazielliadi), the famous Italian 60's folding bike. From the dust of the basements and from abandoned parking places, a piece of history re-emerges, a rusty legacy of mothers and grandmothers. Kshan, 11 years old, has repainted and given a new life to his grandma's bike. Mouad and Aschar have pimped their bike with a big stereo set and a leather steering-wheel, as if it was a cabriolet of an hip-hop videoclip. Uncle Dennis and the "scientific commitee" test their bikes in the four "olympic" competitions while polishing mudguards, and changing wheels in their bike-workshop on the hills. An ironic video-monument of the "do-it-yourself" mentality applied to bikes.
